Sledding & Sleigh Rides in Southwest Michigan

Playing in the snow brings back those childhood memories every time. Those memories speak to the heart of why winter in Southwest Michigan is such a popular winter destination.  Whether it’s cross-country skiing, dog sledding, tubing, downhill skiing, snowboarding, or snowmobiling, you can make it happen in Southwest Michigan. For detailed information on winter fun in Michigan go to the West Michigan Tourist Association website. Here you will find up to date information on the latest ski conditions at all of the great ski areas, a calendar of winter festivals and details on winter activities.

For an entirely different and unforgettable experience, gather some friends and go on the Winterwind Sleigh Ride, located near Bessemer.  Here you will experience the beauty of a snow covered historic farm and rolling hills, while riding in an old-fashioned sleigh, pulled by a team of Percheron Draft Horses.

All ages, young and old,  can enjoy a fun day of sledding and toboggan trails.  A great place to sled is the Five Pines, located in Warren Dunes State Park. You won’t want to miss trying out the 400-foot tubing hill, where you can rent the tubes right at the hill. Five Pines is open at night as well, so the fun doesn't have to stop.
